Short Mat Club News!-February 2026
In March I reported that we had a total of 58 morning and afternoon members and 24 Tuesday Triples players including 10 outdoor bowlers joining our Tuesday Triples sessions, contributing to an enjoyable, competitive atmosphere with strong camaraderie and excellent sportsmanship. This was reflected in the well-supported Singles and Mixed Pairs Competitions, which gathered momentum throughout the season.
The finals for these competitions took place on 22nd and 27th March, bringing an exciting conclusion to 2 highly competitive programme.

For the 2025/26 season, we had 17 players registered, but due to the delay in nominating a Chairman and Club Secretary, we had to withdraw. We look forward to re-joining the league for the Oct 26/27 season.

An absolutely thrilling match had everyone on the edge of their seats right to the very end. The atmosphere was electric, the standard of play was outstanding, and the excitement never let up for a moment.
A truly brilliant match that kept everyone completely mesmerised – and talking about it long after the final end!

The evening culminated with the Tuesday Triples players being recognised, along with the Short Mat season award winners, who were presented with their certificates and prizes by Jules Rabbitt, Club Chairman

2026 Mixed Pairs Final
Our 2026 Mixed Pairs Final Competition finals took place on Sunday 22nd March,
The finals marked the culmination of many weeks of spirited matches, as club members vied not only for recognition as a “decent bowler,” but also for the honour of having their name engraved on one of our cups which will be formally presented at the Club’s Open evening on 10th April 2026.

The matches were keenly observed by spectators from the benches around the clubhouse. The atmosphere was electric—plenty of laughter, friendly banter, and shared appreciation for the skill on display. It was bowls at its best: competitive yet convivial.
Refreshments were flowing throughout, with the bar open and much appreciated by both bowlers and spectators alike.
